Throughout my life I have been searching for a spiritual path to follow. Once in college, I spent some time with a friend who is Christian, and joined her in Bible studies, and sing-alongs. I felt the goose bumps, and sensed a real spirit with that group, yet I felt like it wasn’t from my heart, or my language. Years later, I fell into practicing Martial Arts under a wonderful Sifu who took me under his wing and taught me what he know. He showed me the way of the Japanese, and Qi gong. I practiced breathing techniques, learned of the 5 elements and the connection between them that caused prevention of illness. I learned of accupuncture and meditation from a long line of healers from his family. I loved the focus on my body, my mind, and my spirit, I was physically engaged with martial arts, and inspired in many ways, yet I could not connect with the language that was not my own. Years later I focused on yoga, breathing, stretching, spiritual engagement yet again, though I couldn’t relate to the language and the words being spoken.
I then connected again with my father who says that I am a Druid, come from a long line of Druids. Curious to know what a Druid was, and how that related to me, I googled it.
I found myself resonating with every aspect of the path, I found groups who gathered all in Druidic Practice, and spoke of things that I felt were true to my sole. My spirit was lifted, and I was taken to a whole new place. In 2009, I decided to go on a journey with my father. Re-kindle the ties, connect with nature, and hoped to meet a Shaman, or a Bruho. After 4 weeks of rest, relaxation, good meals, and a four day crossing on a 50 foot Jeneau sailboat from La Paz to Puerto Viarta, I was well on my way to finding a Bruho.
Dad and I spent hours and hours on buses to make our way down to Guatemala, to a small village called Todo Santos, where dad claimed was the ONLY place to get his new hat. I found the village to be surprising, beautiful and very cultural with their special clothing and tapestries.
I ended up getting sick for a few days, so we stayed at a families house, and I found the book “Celestine Prophecy”
I was drawn into this book and read it faster than I had ever read a book before, the mystery, magic and captivating journey made me want to take my spirituality to a whole new level. The gentleman of the house was a Swiss man who married a local woman, they had two kids. I asked him if he knew of any Bruho’s and he said
“If you are looking for a shaman, all you need to do is look in the mirror.”
