Testimonials

“As the principal and the teacher, I was too busy, but was curious about Wild Craft Play and wanted to provide the Wild Craft Play experience for my students. It ended up making the whole experience in our class much more engaging. Through role-playing, arts and crafts in the wilderness we met core curriculum objectives and over-came conflicts, solved problems, made great decisions, and developed basic life-skills. I could check off all of the Core Competencies required for BC Curriculum and it was a great deal of fun!”

~ Annette Nobles –
Principal of Departure Bay Eco School
Licensed Wild Craft Play Facilitator

Wild Craft Play, The Game, is a fun and engaging way to connect children with the Earth and their surroundings.  The children say that “it feels like a videogame in real-life.” Through theatrical role-playing and real-life scenarios, children explore co-operation, collaboration, and real-world issues in a wholesome way that invites autonomy as well as inclusiveness.  The role of the facilitator is to understand the mechanism of the game, then once it is set-up and running, the facilitator role shifts and becomes more of a player, rather than a teacher.  The lesson here is to let go and let the children unleash their imagination.

This model meets all of the new BC Core Competencies and is easily transferable like the board in a board game, or playing field in a video game. Useful for most curriculum learning such as Science, Math, Social Studies, English, Physical Education, Applied Studies for grades 3 to 6.

“It’s amazing, it’s the best of ALL worlds! It’s like a videogame mixed with playing with my friends mixed with being in The Nature! How did you come up with this?”

~ Engaged 11 year old participant during Thesis Research Study 2017.
