July 11, 2013 Daily Journal Blog

I am finding that technology is running away from me as I ride my bike to school, and I spend more time outside.  I don’t blame it… My Earth Muffin tendencies can be intimidating.  But I ask of you Laptop, external hard drive, Go Pro, Sound recorder… please, make yourselves useful to me!  I am going to do great things with you if only you would co-operate.

Now as I sit at this computer on the RRU campus, I reflect on all the days of notes that I have stored on my laptop that I wish to upload to my blog.  Allas, I will have to post those blogs in reverse, as there is only so much time in the day, and only so many things I can fit into it.

So while I study this: Happy Planet Index, of which I find fascinating, and yet maintain a skeptical view of.  As I read through this report, it is very attractive and informative, and yet I find that I don’t have enough previous knowledge to compare this to the GDP… I don’t even know what that REALLY means… something about economics.  Something about how the world is working.  And who is to say this HAPPY PLANET INDEX is the way to measure things.  I’m sure there are a lot of factors missing in it… Interesting the clames that are made:

“No country successfully achieved the three goals of high life satisfaction, high life expectancy and 1 planet living…” what does this all mean anyway?  I can appreciate the comparison between Costa Rica, highest scoring (something) to USA, one of the middle scores.  But what does it all mean???

“The end of the end of history.”  hahaaaa… it’s more dramatic than me!

Here is something else that might wet your whistle: http://www.greennewdealgroup.org/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/HPI-EMB.pdf

I invite you to stay tuned for more blogs… as I am about to go have a study date with the groupies in Residence!
